Weekly Classes

This class incorporates the most effective strengthening and lengthening aerial exercises utilizing the fly gym apparatus (a comfortable, dreamy cotton jersey hammock). Students will leave this class feeling exhilarated from spinal decompression, a stronger core + upper body and a more flexible lower body. It’s the perfect conditioning class for pole fitness and dancers alike.
Open to all fitness levels.
Lengthen & strengthen your body as we work through flexibility and floorwork techniques that will improve your posture, body language and confidence. Handstand training is excellent for strength, flexibility and mobility. Learning to balance on your hands is great for building self confidence, concentration and can also become a very meditative form of work. In this class, you will learn to balance on your hands, forearms and other variations of body control that involve you seeing the world upside down.
 
Leggings/legwarmers, knee pads and/or yoga mat are recommended for this class. 
Class is suitable for all levels.

There’s something extremely empowering about learning the seductive art of Chair Dance and Striptease! In this class you will work with chairs through a series of drills and techniques designed to move your body like the goddess it was born to be. Then we piece together a combo that you can take home!

Chair dance uses the chair as a prop and starts with a chair warm-up that tones your legs, thighs, abs, hips and butt while learning a sexy burlesque chair dance routine. Combine this with your peels, polishes and practice on the pole for a dripping hot mixed routine for you to add to your repertoire of skills.

Contemporary dance is an expressive dance style combining elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical, and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.

As dancers, whether that is pole, hip hop, heels, ballet, etc. we want to feel strong and flexy! This class mixes both strength and stretch/flexibility, making you feel strong yet also improving your passive AND active flexibility! It is your one stop shop for all things flexy and strength, especially when you “forget” to do all the extra things during the week to help with how you feel when you come to class! Not only does this class to do all of those things above, but it helps with how you feel daily too. Whether you sit at a computer day to day or are running around getting your steps in at work, this class will help get you ready to take on the remainder of the week/weekend!

A class designed for you to slide, slither and stretch! Come get comfortable on the floor while you dance it out, progress in your splits, build your core and strengthen your floorwork! We will work on shoulder rolls, leg waves, heel clacks, chest & hip isolations, crawling and everything that comes with getting down on your knees. Learn to move every inch of your body in a controlled fashion.

 

Things to bring to class:

Choreography Based.

 
Hip Hop comes in many forms and styles. This class will begin with a more grounded warm up and stretch before going into hip hop culture and movements through the art of dance.
 
Practice those new moves and choreography you learned in class, and mingle with others who share the same passion. Bring your own music and dance to your favorite tunes using Our Havens Bluetooth or AUX speaker! If your phone/device does not have a headphone jack, please bring an adaptor to connect to our stereo.
 
This is NOT for first-time students. Prior pole/dance experience is required. This service does not include instruction. For safety purposes, students are not permitted to try new moves or teach others in Open Pole. This time is for practicing moves that you have already been taught by a professional and can execute safely.

Classes are one hour in length and include an important mix of dance, pole work, floor work/flexibility & conditioning to help students gain strength, confidence and advance safely. Every participant moves up at their own pace.

POLE LEVEL 1

For everyone new to Pole Dance or needing review of the basics. Here we focus on confidence & muscle memory building through simple, guided movements both on and off the pole. Students will explore strength building techniques on the pole and floor, flexibility and pole dancing moves and spins. Heels, kneepads and leg warmers encouraged!

Recommended duration in Pole Essentials: 4-12 weeks. However every student will progress at her own rate, therefore the instructor’s approval is required before advancing to Spins & Transitions. 

POLE LEVEL 2

This class will accelerate your pole skills and take your spins to new heights! Connect the dots with transitions and those famous little secrets that dancers are known for. Expect free-styling with the pole to become much more natural to you as you lay down a solid foundation for movement, spins, floor work and choreo. Pre Requisite: Level 1 or previous experience. Heels, kneepads and leg warmers encouraged! 

POLE LEVEL 3 + 4

This class is a blend of levels 3 & 4, and also incorporates doubles training. 

This class will teach your techniques from the basics of pole inversions to the intricate & complex transitions on Intermediate level Pole, PLUS introduce students to the world of doubles pole tricks. Students will continue to progress climbing and sitting techniques learned in Spins & Transitions. Moves will also be advanced into more daring Pole inversions, tricks and sequences that will challenge their endurance, strength & flexibility. 

Expects higher level conditioning, active flexibility work and the introduction of basic inverts, intermediate inverts & sequences on Spin Mode.

Pre Requisite: Instructor Approval. However every student will progress at her own rate, therefore the instructor’s approval is required before advancing to this class.

LYRICAL POLE FLOW
Lyrical Pole Flow blends the elements of ballet and jazz together while dancing on & around your pole. Start the class with a head-to-toe warm-up and stretch before working into a routine that allows the body to focus on breathing into the movements. This class will allow you to explore various flow techniques, transitions, floorwork, and sequencing on and off the pole. Expect to learn & add onto the same routine every week – with a new routine happening each month. Work with various genres of music and become a more confident pole dancer! 
Prerequisite: beginner/level 1 or previous experience and an open mind 🙂

Welcome to a whole new world of Pole Dance! Learn the art of Spin Pole in this 60 minute class designed to familiarize students with holds, poses and momentum control. Technique and safety are emphasized. You will be creating and experiencing magical forms of movement in no time.

Shake your money maker while building a beautiful bottom! Good ol’ fashioned booty shakin’ is what this class is all about. In this class, you will condition and tone to warm up and then learn booty popping + twerk techniques piecing it all together into some short choreo. Your partner or future partner will thank you for this one! *wink wink*n Content

This class is for those new to pole, or those wishing to revisit our Essentials curriculum in a progressive, weekday environment.

The Havens Heels Company program is a 12-week commitment program. When you register, you are registering for 1x per week for 12 weeks. Each class is 2 hours & is mandatory for those registered for the full 12 week session.  In the first hour, dancers learn skills, drills & a new fun piece of choreography each week. The second hour is dedicated to Show Choreography. This means that you have to remember this choreography every week, as it will be performed in a professional theatre showcase at the end of the 12 weeks!

 

Open to anyone who wants to dance – All levels, all experiences and all bodies have space & a place here.

Please Note: The first hour is also open to dancers that are not registered for the full program. If you are looking to drop in here & there for some fun choreography, please join us in the first hour*

FAQs

Pole Class:  We recommend form fitting workout clothes that allow for easy movement.  You will be most comfortable in leggings, a tank top  and make sure you invest in some knee pads. Platform shoes are optional but allowed in Pole Level 2 and up, and sometimes encouraged for specific classes. Shorts are required for inversions and beyond as you will need to use your legs to climb, hold and hang!

 

Aerial Fitness: We recommend form fitting workout clothes that allow for easy movement.  Long/short sleeved t-shirt, leggings and socks are ideal.

Participants must be 18 years of age to join our programs.

Absolutely not! Anyone with a great attitude and willingness to try can join our programs. Everyone is a beginner to start and remember: “you don’t have to be great to start but you must start to be great”.

Our instructors are trained to take it nice and slow, making sure that you have lots of time and encouragement from the very beginning to get comfortable with our moves and techniques. Our series classes progress on a week to week basis and our boutique / open level dance + fitness classes are supplements that will help your body with the necessary conditioning needed for progression and more specific results such as flexibility, coordination, endurance and overall strength and confidence.

One of the things we are most proud of at Our Haven is our inclusive community and the diversity of humans who form our community.  Nothing truly epic exists within our comfort zone right?  Trust us when we say….you will be glad you did!

Water is normally all that is required but kneepads and legwarmers are strongly recommended.

Please remove jewelry – rings, watches, bracelets that can scratch the poles and potentially harm you as well. Please also have your hands free of lotions or moisturizers as this affects your grip with the pole and also makes them harder to keep clean.

 

Cancellation / Refund Policy: Classes can be cancelled online from your account.  Please email the studio so that our administrators are able to handle your circumstances accordingly. There will be no refunds for expired passes or passes that have been used in any capacity. You cannot transfer your pass/credits/contracts etc to another person. No refunds once the session has begun.
